IS A DISEASE OF OUR IDEAS (2011-2013)
The drought of 2007 in
Catalonia (Spain) made emerge from the waters of the reservoir the village of
Sau, which sunk in the early 60s caused by “developmentalism” of the Franco´s
dictatorship.
I went to several dams and I researched online the
story of the construction of water reservoirs in Spain and I had found a pdf
file the three volumes of the National Plan of Water, 1933 on the website of
the Ministry of Development and Environment. The various information I had
been collecting and connecting in a symbolic visual narration. From these
narratives emerged a series of objects and actions.

As an exercise in
memorization, I copied by hand with watercolor pencils in notebooks child the
Volumen II of PNHO, 1933 of Spain, with the list of all village where receive
water from a total of 205 projects of water reservoirs, canals and irrigation
ditches. But in 1936 the Spanish Civil War began, later it continued the
World War II and the Cold War. The construction of water reservoirs was
conducted by the dictatorship of Franco, who forced move hundred of people
from their villages. Franco used prisioner of war and regime opponents to
build his great works. Forced evictions of villages continued until the 80s
after the death of Franco during democracy.
I placed this notebooks
written and some topographical maps inside an inflatable pool and I filled it
with water.

I redraw
the altered sequence of the explosion of the tower. What was destroyed is
rebuilt to return to destroy it in a infinite repetition.

Performance
made in Finland that I proposed to public to write on a paper about a
place where they couldn't come back and leave it in the pool with water.
While I was writing the name of dams and villages, some of this
villages had disappeared under its water of reservoir.
